Since setting up the catered ski chalet, and our guests seeing me cook from our open plan kitchen, I have often been asked “how did you cook that? what is in that sauce? and can I have the recipe for that dish?……”. It’s been really great to answer their questions and give our guests some little top tips! It also makes you feel like you are definitely doing something right when it comes to the catering in our ski chalet.

So it is for this reason, and the encouragement that I have received from some of our guests, that I have decided to offer cookery courses during the summer season, because I love to get involved in talking about food and encouraging others to follow their passion for food too.

The cookery courses that I would like to offer at the chalet will be a very relaxed affair, where guests will follow a “demo and dine” experience to prepare a 3 course evening meal each day. From making homemade pasta to freshly made ice cream, I hope to show you some recipes and tricks of the trade that you will be able to use yourself. Each day will start off by going to get the various produce we need to cook the meal that afternoon, including various little excursions like going to the local markets for fresh produce, visiting local farms to find out about cheese making, visiting the Evian water source and going up into the mountains to pick some mushrooms etc. Afterwards, we will go back to the chalet, where we will begin to cook the food so it’s ready for us to taste that evening, all the while chatting through the techniques used. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and getting actively involved in some of the cooking yourself, not to forget some tasting too!

This is not an international cookery school, but instead a relaxed holiday where you will cook, taste and learn. I hope to help graduate your skills and cooking methods and give you the confidence to try something new in the kitchen. It’s not difficult or expensive to make simple foods taste great – it is the combination of flavours, textures and techniques which are used together to create fabulous food for all occasions.

It’s a great way to sample dishes and take a few recipes and tips home with you, and learn in a relaxed, informative and fun way!

Our cookery courses are available to anyone staying in either our catered chalet or self catered chalets, and are for a minimum of 3 days.
