Obviously, during the winter months, skiing and snowboarding are the main attractions of visiting a ski resort, but the village of Chatel and the surrounding areas offer a variety of other activities for non-skiers, so you can still experience the atmosphere of a winter holiday in the Alps.

Here are a few suggestions:

Walking / snow-shoeing
There are many opportunities for some lovely walks around the area where you can enjoy the stunning scenery and look out for some local wildlife by following many of the marked tracks and trails, either on foot or snow-shoes. The fabulous lift system also ensures that non-skiers do not miss out on meeting up with their friends and family on the slopes to see them skiing or enjoy a wonderful lunch altogether in one of the many mountain restaurants. There is also a free shuttle bus that can take you to neighbouring villages in the valley, where you can check out the local shops or perhaps enjoy an après ski drink on one of the bars.

Spa / Massage
The Hotel Macchi in Chatel offers a sublime spa with indoor pool. Indulge in a relaxing massage, unwind in the pool and Jacuzzi or pamper yourself with beauty treatments - whatever you choose the Hotel Macchi is the perfect choice. Alternatively, why not treat yourself to a relaxing massage in the comforts of your own room. We can arrange for a mobile therapist to come to the chalet if you would prefer it. This service can also be used for skiers to help relieve aching muscles after a hard say on the slopes!

Lake Geneva
With the mix of the water and mountains, there is so much to see at the beautiful Lake Geneva. From Chatel town centre there is a bus service which takes you directly to the town of Thonon-Les-Bains where you can discover its many shops and restaurants, as well as take the funicular down from the town centre to the Lake where you can enjoy a walk along the shore and take in the stunning scenery.

Other activities around the area include: Ice diving and ice fishing at the lake in Chatel / Dog sledging / Ice skating / Bowling / Visiting local farms for a cheese making tour

The above are just a few ideas, but please feel free to contact us for more details.
